In the morning, we transfer to the place where the biggest equestrian statue to the great Chinggis Khaan stands tall, overlooking the Tuul river valley to the east. The statue comprises a visitor center with museums, art exhibits, and shops. Those who wish can hike up the stairs to end up on the main of the horse to get a bird-eye view of the neighboring valleys. The continued drive to the Terelj National Park to a ger camp located in the heart of the park. After lunch at the camp, opportunity to enjoy riding Mongolian horses in the area or visit a local family. Dinner and overnight at the ger camp. (Ger camp; L, D)

Day 2. Ariyabal meditation temple / Ulaanbaatar

In the morning, visit Ariyabal Monastery, originally built in the early 19th century in Tibetan style as a meditation temple for lamas from Gandantegchilen Monastery in Ulaanbaatar. Like many monasteries across the country, the original structure was destroyed during the communist purges of the 1930s. The current temple was rebuilt just a few decades ago and remains a place of pilgrimage for many local Buddhists on special occasions. Enjoy a peaceful hike in the surrounding area before returning to the ger camp for lunch. In the late afternoon, drive back to the city. (L)
